After losing a regional court appeal, Samsung is still not allowed to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany. The German courts say the design is too close to Apple’s iPad. Instead the altered Tab 10.1N is for sale.
In more tough news for the company the European Commission is investigating the way Samsung licenses its patents on 3G mobile systems. The EC is concerned that it may be a breach of European competition law.
Toshiba and Fujitsu booked deep losses in their latest quarter. They blamed a jump in component costs due to flooding in Thailand as well as a tough market. Japanese companies have also been hurt by the strong yen, which negatively impacts profits earned abroad.
